Verdad Histórica

This project was meant as a tribute to 43 students that went “missing” back on the night of September 26th 2014 in Guerrero, Mexico. The goal was to create a political poster in order to raise awareness for others as well serve as a form of tribute to them and their respective families. The students were from a school from Ayotzinapa, Iguala and to this day we do not really know what exactly happened to them. The poster serves as a statement of the injustice that happened on that day but also other injustices that also happen unfortunately happen every day in Mexico. This project was very dear to my heart because while I am not from Iguala, I grew up in Mexico and went to school there, so when I heard about this incident it made me wonder… that could’ve been me or someone who I knew personally, so the least I could do is to make sure that these students are not forgotten and they serve as a symbol of not only injustice but also of one of the darkest chapters in Mexico’s history.
